Catch Up

So last Saturday was an eventful day. We went to the ever lovely Alamo Drafthouse and attended the Ye-Z sing along event. Basically they gathered a bunch of Kanye, Jay Z and Beyonce (and by extension Destiny's Child) music videos and we sang along. Needless to say, it was "Dope as Balls". Not long after this event, we walked down 6th street at midnight. 6th street being the lovey party street of Austin. There we learned that 6th street is not for us. A lot of hot dudes though.

Later at the bus stop is when we ran into a favorite dude of mine, the lead singer of the Flaming Lips. It was surreal. He had sweet dance moves. Dudes Rad.

Other than that, we've just been doing school shit, which has piled up, but I think we're over the hump now. Back in Houston at the moment because I must experiment on children. Fun stuff. Until next time

Last Weekend

After having a bad friday.
Ryan and I worked on a Lego project (for his dad) at least it WAS..idk if Ryan wants to keep it now or whats gonna happen..'cause he reallly likes the way it looks in his apartment/he plays with it randomly.
So many lego pieces!!
The hardest part about building legos is scavenging for the pieces! Some are soo tiny, and some are clear, and its hard to organize them. We tried, though. As you can see above, the bigger pieces were separated from the smaller ones.. That helped. Later, we separated all the colored pieces into one bowl. Yay for bowls and lids.

I built this little bad boy myself... :) The car coulda been way cooler, but whatever Lego

Alas there were but few lego pieces remaining...

I told Ryan to try to get it at the LegoPeople's point of view...
Also, today is Ryan's and my 3yr 1 month anniversary. We'll let you know what we do...

days go by

Today i was thinking, wow, Ryan and I have stopped counting our dating months recently, lets see, we're at 3 years and....3 years and... OMG it's still October. Wow. So it's still October. Time has not passed.
But at the same time it has. Because i just realized we only have 7 1/2 weeks of school left. A while ago it was 11. So time has passed afterall.

Weird.

Balancing Work and Life

The other day I went to a lecture here on campus about leadership and success, you know, those things.
Anyway, he said something that really resonated with me: the concept of balancing one's life. it's not easy. You can never give the same amount of attention to every aspect in your life.
Recently I've been thinking about myself, evaluating my life and such. I'm kinda lame, I admit. Can't say anything exciting is going on with me. I  feel I have to prioritize to get through. This causes me to miss or lose somethings along the way. Like friends, family, exercise, fun. This year has totally ruined any chance of balance for me. At least for the time being. I have so much school work, responsibilities, and errands that I hardly have time for other normal college stuff. I suppose I could make time for socializing, but by nature I am inclined to prioritize only 3 things. School, Myself (those alternate every now and then) and my Boyfriend.
It's frustrating because I wish i had time for it all. The other day I stayed up late chatting with my roommates which caused me to lose sleep, wake up like crap in the morning, and rush to finish my homework during the day. Can't have your cake and it eat too, it seems. Which is what leads me into wanting my own apartment so that i can do all my schoolwork sans interruptions. But that would mean no friends, no talking. just me by myself. (not gonna lie, its really not that bad, im introverted) but its not healthy, and its not what college should be like. Am i the only one? I find no time to do anything but sleep, study and eat. Except for when we obsessively watched Arrested Development that one week, but sacrifices WERE made, trust me. Less sleep and neglected reading assignments.

This whole little ramble is really my way of explaining to you, dear blog, why no posts have been made, especially not  interesting ones, and why that may not change for a while...

Thanks.

Friday, October 7, 2011

We are obsessively watching the first 3 seasons of Arrested Development!
I didn't think I'd like it, but Ryan assured me it was great and--boy, I'm hooked!
I don't think i've ever laughed out loud as OFTEN as i do during this show. Usually I just kinda chuckle to myself, but not with this show. :P
Oh, and we're going to Houston this weekend for a little catch up and a get away from school. Even though I have endless homework.... :/

We are the 99%

I was surfing through The Huffington Post when this article caught my attention.
After reading the brief description- I was taken in. Looking at one picture turned into looking at the whole slide.
This is REAL. These are REAL people.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/03/we-are-99-percent-stories-victims-great-recession_n_992340.html

I do think about this stuff, it's not like its a shock to me. But it is incredibly depressing and frustrating.
Being at UT, I have to say, I DO have a problem with the rich kids here. The fact is, you have to have money to go to college, so it's no surprise there are a lot of middle to upper class students here. Them with their iPads, and their fancy cars, and their constant shopping. I feel bad enough for having a Honda Civic, how do they feel? I wonder.

I guess you can say I'm one of the lucky ones. Both my parents are employed, the bills are paid (okay, some are paid with credit cards) but the important part is that no one in my family is going hungry, I have a roof over my head, and my brothers and I are getting a college education (even if most of it is on loans)
So for now, I'm lucky. But there's a fine line that millions of Americans like myself face.

More pics are sent in to We are the 99 Percent at Tumblr
http://wearethe99percent.tumblr.com/

I encourage everyone to read these, think about their own lives and think about what they can do to help.
As for me? All I can really do is protest, but that may lead to arrest--which costs money--which i don't have.  So, I don't know-- I'm working on it

Monday

Today's been pretty good for me.
I slept in. Had two classes with nothing going on.
Went to the movies with my babe right after class (Oh, College Days)
Ate a delicious buffalo sauce and cheddar burger..mmm
and now back at Ryan's place chilling---

Ahh, it's been great.

But let's get back to the movie. We saw 50/50.
Where do I begin...
It was AMAZING. The best movie i've seen all year.
I tried really hard not to cry, i mean i just got out of school and i wanted to relax, but this movie made me bawl! Ryan is pretty sure people in the audience heard me.. Lol. I was completely bawling. I even had to cover my face.
Joseph Gordon Levitt did a great job. So did Seth Rogen (despite his awful raspy laugh) and Anna Kendrick.

This movie was not what I expected it but I thought it was perfect in every single way.

Something to change things up...

The doctor that Ryan saw on tuesday suggested he have more fiber in his diet.
Guess what? I need fiber in my diet too!
(I won't stop you from guessing why. )

Being the foodie that I am, my thoughts went to one thing and one thing only.... High Fiber Recipes!
As you may know, beans are super high in fiber---but dear Ryan hates beans.
MAKES A FACE AT BEANS.
(then again he also makes a face when he eats fruit...another story)
But I like beans. What can I say- I'm Mexican.
Mmm. Frijoles.
(Pic belongs to eauthenticmexicanrecipes.com)

Yeah, sure, one could just pop a fiber pill... but that's too easy.  Plus, it's good to eat healthy.

So, dear blog, the High Fiber Diet starts next week.... I'm excited!

It turns out I dont have the Ass Cancer

The process of finding out if I had the ass cancer was probably worse than going through a painful death of the ass cancer.

Also, OK Computer is still a fantastic album

That is all

Monday, September 26, 2011

I'll post more

When our lives actually become interesting.
Also, Ryan loves my cooking! YAY

Also, the movie Contact is ridiculously long, omg. But it was still good.

And lastly---Diet Lemon Iced Tea from a can Sucks. UGH. 7 out of 12 cans to go.... :/  I hate throwing stuff away--even when i really want to.

Our weekend

Friday- We got pizza at Austin's pizza. Food was decent. I ate more than I should have as always. It slightly drizzled outside while we ate. We took the bus back to his apartment, and no less than 30 minutes after arriving- I fell asleep. For 3 hours.lol.
Then we watched Contagion later that night, in a packed theater. Not only were we super close to the screen (despite being 15 min early) but we decided it was okay to order food.
Not the best idea. Especially during that scene where they did the autopsy. I ate as fast as I could and kept my face down, listening but not watching. I bet the couple next to us thought we were some sick fucks eating during this movie. lol. It wasn't that bad anyway.
Then bed time.
Cindy came over Saturday. Ryan and I woke up extremely late. Man, we're such sleepers. By the time we were up and ready to do stuff, albeit still in pajamas, it was 1pm. Cindy no doubt mocked us in her head. lol.
Thinking of where to eat, due to our lack of groceries, I insisted on going to La Mexicana Bakery/restaurant. The website looked pretty promising and authentic.
It was a disaster and I will never go back and I felt so bad for taking Ryan and Cindy there. -__- ugh.
The bakery part looked better though.
Anyway, Cindy got picked up by her really nice boyfriend later and Ryan and I were once again left to our own devices. We chilled like always. Made dinner. Read. Video gamed. Watched a movie. And went to bed. (the usual)
TODAY, was a new day once again. We really do need to start our homework soon...
He got up at 10. I got up at 11. Nothing happened in between then and 2pm when we decided to check out another mexican restaurant.
I found this crazy cool blog, Tacojournalism.blogspot.com.
They check out all the local austin taco places. Whether in the form of a truck, a stand, or a restaurant. And thus we found a great little place.
Taqueria Los Jaliscienses (the blog agrees its a bit of a tongue twister)
The food was delicious  (oh and ryan was the only non mexican there, haha- but that's how you know its good!) (this makes up for Chuy's mexican restaurant, when i was the only  mexican there! ironic huh)
So yeah- we're going back. And taking Ryan's parents there one day---hopefully. Maybe I can tag along. That'd be nice.

Finally we're cookin'

We made some fucking badass peach (nectarine, shh) cobbler. I was the shit. For the cobbler part I made a quick 3ingredient sugar cookie.

And for dinner we had that Chicken Marsala
(the marsala wine tastes like shit btw)

And Caesar Salad. The dressing we bought was alright. A little disappointing.

So Ryan and I went to a liquor store. We were there looking for Marsala Wine, obviously. Neither of us are drinkers, nor do we plan on being drinkers in the future. So since he just turned 21, we figured it was no big deal, lets just buy some and walk out and happy happy done. Ok, so everything goes smoothly until we're at the checkout counter.
"Can I see both of your ID's please?"
me: hold up, she said BOTH? oh shit...
Ryan shows her his ID. Then she looks over at me.
I admit to her that i'm only 20, but we're just getting this wine for cooking, honestly.
NOPE.
"I'm sorry. I can't sell this to you. Everyone in the group has to be 21"
UGH, i shoulda stayed in the car.
So embarassing. It made me not want to make the Chicken Marsala anymore...
Fortunately, HEB's got our back. And we got a super cheap bottle for 2 bucks.
the end.

We took a little trip to Hey Cupcake

The iconic food truck on SoCo
We didn't go to the truck though. We went to a building location that was nearby. It wasn't crowded at all. I guess nobody wants cupcakes at dinner time... ;P

It was pretty dang good.

Ryan got "The Standard"

and I got the "Vanilla Dream"

And the dude totally pressured Ryan to get whipped cream on his.. Only it wasn't only "on" the cupcake. It was shoved into the cupcake itself too.

But it was worth it, says Ryan.
'Tis agreed, says I.   (i didn't really say that)(whipped cream was fantastic tho)

And this was pretty much our dinner. Oh, College Days!

I slept in my room for the first time

It was hot.

You know what else is hot?

The food that I'm not eating.
(so hungry...)

This weekend expect some food pics...
Ryan and I have a weekend menu planned.

Chicken Marsala
Caesar Salad
and Nectarine Cobbler using this lovely recipe: http://gardenofeatingblog.blogspot.com/2009/07/eatwell-recipe-21-fresh-peach-cobbler.html
;P

Too bad my appetite is still being weird.
Maybe these foods will convince it to liven up a bit.

"Come on Appetite! You can do it! Who's a good girl?!"

As you have probably heard, there was a major fire in Bastrop, Texas. (to say the least)
While driving back to Austin, after a long labor day weekend at home, we drove right through it. More or less. We had to detour because they blocked off part of 71. From far a way the smoke gave off a cloud-like appearance. But as we got closer we became more convinced that it was smoke from the fire.

You can see how incredibly smokey it was. I mean, it was about 2 in the afternoon and when we got further ahead it became so dark and just different.

I feel bad for the people that lost their homes, their valuables, and their pets. Oh the pets. Ryan tells me they were instructed to leave the animals behind as they evacuated.

Speaking of smoke, It actually hit austin today.
These past two days its been rather cold, and all of a sudden today, like around noon, a wave of smoke hit campus. You could see it, smell it, and feel it. It was very strange. I wondered if they would cancel classes. But they didn't. And the smoke left anyway.
Here are pics from a different angle  (as we detoured off of 71)

SIGH. And this isn't the first or last wildfire in Texas.

Sunday, August 28, 2011

Today we had to do what we didn't do yesterday.
Grocery shopping.
Followed by a delicious ravioli lunch, with a roasted red pepper and onion sauce. The creation of Ryan.
(I feel like a proud mama ;P)
Lunch was followed by other necessary internet tasks. Like surfing and watching foodporn. I'm just kidding. I actually did school stuff like buying textbooks and reading syllabi.
After that we went to my room. My awful, miserable room. I like to check up on it everyday. In case that roommate ever comes.
Speaking of my room. The building I live in is trash. The students that run it are trash.
One of the officers thinks she can treat me like crap because according to her, I'm a fucking freshman.
Yes, it may be my first time living in this building, but chick, I am a fucking Junior. And for all I know you are younger than me. And even if i was a freshman, i don't deserve to be treated like some idiot.
UGH. No good.
But alas, i have the pictures of my room.
Enjoy. -__-

I admit, I like the paint.
As you can see, the closets came with no door. That's my makeshift curtain. Also, notice the only light in the room. Yep.
The bed of my missing roommate. Yay for Lamp in background!

Ryan, at the desk of my missing roommate. The other light in the room is above the sink. Great for studying.
And i sweated while taking those pictures. Today was a hot day. The inside  of my building definitely reflected that.

Our Latest Projects

Two weeks before school I was taking my little brother to swimming practice and trying to get my stuff packed and ready.
The day before moving in I babysitted 4 kids all under the age of 9. One with autism. And i made $75.
Moving in was hot as hell. Roomate was not there yet. I sat on my bed and moped. I do not like my room.
I have been in austin for a week now and have not slept there once. It's hot. It's dirty. It's old.  And my key did not work for the first 3 days.
But in the meantime I am sewing up a curtain because my closet did not come with a door. Yep.
I will post a picture of it as soon as I can.
School was fine. Lot's of walking. Cramped legs. Eating out all the time.
Today, Saturday we went to Buffalo Exchange.
I brought a large bag of clothes i wanted to sell. Like a heavy, big bag.
They took ONE SKIRT. that's it. and i got $4.50 store credit for it -___-
I felt so insulted. Even the cashier was judging my lame denim purse. Sorry i'm not cool enough, B.E.
Ryan says I dress like a mormon. Minus the long skirts and shit. I dislike things that are too feminine.
Ryan and I also need to get car stuff done, but it's so hot outside and we're exhausted from all the walking.
Also, we've been taking the bus alot. Parking in Austin is impossible most of the time. The bus is a strange, but cool experience.

Saturday, August 6, 2011

My ticket was dismissed because the officer put the wrong violation down.
Nice.

Ryan got food poisoning from his favorite place. Terrible two days.
Sad.

That about highlights the week.

Super Sunburned -___-
I haven't been sunburned in YEARS.
Me and the outdoors never got along.

But at least ryan can't make fun of my pale legs anymore.
They're no longer "Hot Topic pale" as he calls it. lol.

Sunday, July 24, 2011

Splashtown tomorrow : ) Just my boy and I.
Excited for that.
Not only is it going to be fun, but we're going to be alone.
It's nice. Yep.
My parents were really understanding too.
However, my brother is under the impression that I'm accompanying Ryan to a very important doctor's appointment. And therefore he must stay with a family friend for most of the day. At first he said no because he likes being difficult, but soon he saw he had no choice. At least that's taken care of.
Yep.
Also, there are now 4 weeks left of summer.
So they must be planned wisely.

HARRY POTTER WAS AMAZING!!!!

OMG.

Friday, July 15, 2011

Quite boring indeed

Sorry for no regular updates, but I've not exactly been doing all that much lately. Just working and sleeping, which is an existence I don't care much for. I'm also currently on the look out for a job in Austin, though I don't expect to get anything done while I'm still in Houston. With any luck I'll get a 'cool' job, though my guess is everyone applies to Alamo Drafthouse, Half Price and the Apple Store all the time. But we'll see.

Going to see Harry Potter tonight, I expect manly tears.

I'm treating this blog all wrong..

I need to document more than just what shows i've seen!

My cousins came over like a week ago. It was random. But it turned out really nice. I had fun.
And we ended up having somewhat of a party at my house, because thats what happens when you have large families.
Nono and i bonded like we used to. It was great.
My mother made homemade lasagna, homemade french bread (with my help), and homemade dressing for the salad. (You see, she began cooking more once my older brother and i left to college, convenient huh? -_-)
And Nono and I made homemade biscuits and homemade chocolate chip cookies. (those cookies came out so thin they were practically transparent, long story lol)
And also, my other cousins, not Nono, has 3 siblings that live here. And this was going to be the first time that all 6 siblings were going to get together. EVER.
This is because they all have the same dad, different moms, you get the picture. Anyway, its rather incredible. And my mother is like, we're having 25 people over tonight, and we're only inviting the siblings and their kids so its not like we invited anyone extra.... lol YEAH alot of people.
One sister didn't show up after all. But it was still a good night, and the siblings got to bond. My cousin who is 24 i think hadn't seen her brother in 20 years! Not by choice, its just how it worked out. My mother's side of the family is mexican, so you can imagine what the complications were... I'll say no more.
Anyway, It was a good weekend.
See Ale? I knew you had more going on than just TV and homework.

BYE BYE

I'll keep this quick.

So it seems there are only 6 weeks of summer left.
Am I happy about that? Yes, actually.  And so is Ryan.
There is just something about summer that never quite does it for us.
The school year is much more enjoyable.

I was super excited to watch Julie and Julia when it came out, and I finally saw it a few weeks ago.
I didn't like it, unfortunately.
Maybe it was the constant interruptions? Between cooking (oh the irony) and my little brother I kept pausing and playing and pausing and playing.
I don't know. But i do know that Meryl Streep did an excellent job at portraying Julia Child.

Anyway, these past few weeks mostly consist of How I met your mother, and Harry Potter Movies. Oh and other random episodes of whatever sounds good.
That T.V. has been getting a lot of attention, let me tell you.

What a summer, huh?

Also, I have been bringing Ryan lunch while he works. What a lovely girlfriend he has. I love feeding him, so it's great. And it's an excuse to leave the house. Even if little brother has to come along.

Sincerely,
The Babysitter/Cook/Dishwasher/Girlfriend

My first ticket.

And it was for a stupid reason too. Ugh. Damn cops.

Monday, June 27, 2011

This go'n be a long post. Almost the end of June

Which is great, 'cause summers tend to drag...
Alright, it's been a while. Let me go over what's been going on lately. Which isn't a whole lot, but this blog is intended to record our adventures and non adventures.
Last I was here it was June 9th.
June 13th Ryan and I went to see Super 8 with my little brother and his friend. Got in trouble for sneaking in drinks (and popcorn, but they didnt see that) Hey it is not my fault that my ass is broke! Not everybody has money!
June 15th I got my new glasses. Which were great until they started hurting the sides of my head.
June 16th Ryan decided to buzz his hair off. And he went a little balder than he expected. Not cute. Whats funny is that his new method is to buzz it himself in the backyard.
June 17th I took my glasses to get fixed. They're mostly better now..
During this time, if I remember correctly, Ryan is working full days at the pool :( 10am to 8pm. And his sexy self is getting all brown, red, and flaky UGH, but he's still cute. from far away. LOL im jk.
June 18th Ryan's Tio and Tia were in town and I tagged a long with the familia to a bbq restaurant. http://www.swingingdoor.com/ I love bbq, so that was nice. Speaking of nice, his Uncle and Aunt were super nice. Hell, his uncle talked to me more than BOTH of Ryan's parents have ever talked to me. And i've been comin over for 3 years! (almost) I guess his folks are just quiet people.
June 19th I spent all day working on my government exam. Got a 90, whatwhat. And my oldest brother came over.
June 20th-22nd Ryan was off with his Uncle and Aunt, took them shopping and then they ate out at Pappadeaux (which is tasty but hideously expensive, I am not comfortable payin 25 for an entree, hell no)
June 22nd My little brother and I finally woke up early enough to go see James and the Giant Peach, for free at the alamo theater. It rained like crazy that day. Then that night i got home and started packing for my orientation the next day
June 23rd-24th Woke up at 5am for the 2-and-a-half-hour drive to Austin. I'm gonna keep this short: Orientation was awesome!! I'm so excited to be going to UT. Too bad it's only for 2 years :(  But i met so many people, and i felt so comfortable and its just great. Registered for classes. not happy with my schedule but we'll see what happens. Oh and i met this guy i talked to online there, and a guy from Steds. It was all "hey u look familiar, so do you, blah blah blah, OH steds, yeah, bleh, uh huh"  Oh and i look awful in my new ID :(  Ryan goes: Maybe orange isn't your color...    yeah, thanks Ryan. -___-
June 25th Ryan worked. Then came home. And his mom wasn't feeling well. Trip to hospital. But i came over anyway to console Ryan (and eat their pizza)
June 26th A mormon blessing was scheduled. And my ass was there. Poor Lori, she must have felt awkward. Like, why is this girl always here?! lol. But its over oh well. I was worried i'd mess up the blessing since i'm catholic. And on top of that, I had a low cut shirt and a necklace with a cross. Yeah okay anyway. Oh and did i mention that before that I was laying under ryan's covers in his room and his dad walked in! Oh man, good thing we weren't doing anything-- But hey for all his dad knew i coulda been naked under there. (I wasn't) And not only that, but his dad starts talking to me!and im like Ugh please turn away lol

Alright, C'est tout!

Thursday, June 9, 2011

I can't believe orientation is in exactly 2 weeks! Wow time flies. I swear it was another month away.
Ok this weekend I'll update some posts with pictures.... This blog has been quite bland lately.

A little rant

I love it when friends come over and my stupid little brother decides to join in. And then doesn't leave us alone until my friend leaves. Even after repeatedly being told to leave. And meanwhile my parents go to bed, doing nothing about it. -_____-

If i used my twitter account, it would say something like this :  Life sucks. #wanttoescape #pissedoff

Things that have cracked me up today

A missing elderly couple from Houston is found in Pensacola Florida!
It's funny because they got lost while driving to their grandson's grad party 30 minutes away and ended up in another state!
I guess they just kept on driving...and driving...
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/metropolitan/7599551.htmlOh, old people.
With too much pride, no cellphone, and dementia, their return was definitely lucky!

Second story of the day, I found this from a food blog i visited today,
A dog that will not come inside until you address him to come inside!

http://www.ellesnewenglandkitchen.com/blog/2011/6/3/tortilla-wrapped-burgers-and-my-weird-dog.html
"The dogs will do their thing, and then wait on the deck to come back in. They all come right in, except Hammy. He waits to be asked back in." -Elle from Elle's New England Kitchen

Silly Silly.

BLEH

Last week of May
Ryan got new glasses. They don't look much different from his old ones.

edit: On wednesday, we were bored and went over to Katy Mills Mall where I was gonna let my brother rock climb, and as it shows, Ryan wanted in on the fun too :P

Andres loves Ryan's truck :P

Dinner with his parents.
My birthday happened.
Got a haircut that i liked the first day and don't like anymore. It's my hair, not the cut of it.
The stylist was kinda weird. "You have really healthy hair *smiles*" "Oh, thank you *cross legs*" "Umm, didn't i tell you not to cross your legs!?"  O.o  : {
Lol, anyway.
Thats mostly it.
Oh and my little brother is driving me crazy! :/  And i am a very tolerant person...

Just moved out

Still makes me a tad sad, I know I'm just getting a new apartment and all that at the end of the summer. But I grow attached to things too easily. Also, I'm sore as hell. But its probably a good thing.

Also, Ale needs to post soon about 'something something' ;) but I'll leave that to her.

Not such a bad Monday

Remember those fuck ups?
Well, they're not so much a problem anymore.

Saw Pirates 4 today.
With Maha and her emo boyfriend. (is that rude?)(Ryan said it first) lol
The movie was good, i liked it.
Ryan thought it was just okay.

Also, Diego's party was pretty good. He and Ryan bonded. A lot. Too much. But all is well. : P I think he's the favorite brother now. lol

PIRATES arrgh

So Ryan and I have been busy catching up on the Pirates of the Carribbean series...

First Movie: Awesome.
Second Movie: Still Awesome.
Third Movie (where we left off today): me: "I.am.so.confused. I don't think I like this movie. "

That about sums it up.
Good thing i have Ryan to pester with questions during the movie.
Yeah, I'm that kinda person. :/
lol.

Can it be June already?

Summer begins...

So happy that Ryan is back! : )
We have to hang out while he can before he/we start working : (
At least we got a lot of "us" time this past school year.
We'll keep you updated blog....

Ugh. Being home is something else

So i'm back at my house. (drove out at 5am yesterday to get here in time for my bro's graduation)

It's only been a day and I already feel stressed out.
This month is gonna suck. There's gonna be a party every weekend. Next week we're having one here for my oldest brother. And the weekend of my birthday we're having relatives over, coincidentally. Now, its not that I don't like these particular people, it's just that i don't like people coming over. I'm introverted. I suppose.
Not to mention today, my oldest brother is having a grad party at his mom's house. I want to be there for him, but I'm not gonna lie--its gonna be awkward.

In addition to my people problems, i've been fucking up. So far I've:
1. Scared away the baby birds that live(d) in our backyard. It was an accident. I was trying to take a picture. And my dad yelled at me. "They can't fly very well, now they're going to  be eaten by the neighbor's cats! Good Job Alessandra!"  :(    A NEW BIRD CAME. It's laying its egg. And now I know better :)
2. Broke the bedpost of my mom's bed. (10 minutes ago) I feel like crap. Its only a few months old. "God! You and your little brother can't let me have anything nice!"  : (   It was an accident! I was just leaning myself on it. If only i weighed 50 lbs. (jk guys)  FIXED IT. With some wood glue. WASSUP

Sigh. I guess I'll use this post to tally all the times I fuck up this summer. I can't help it, I'm a clutz. If only you knew me in Highschool. Boy i could write up a book of all the embarassing screw ups I had. Ryan can back me up on that. And he didn't even know me all of highschool!

Until the next fuck up,
 Alessandra

The library

Why does everyone wear hoodies in the library? I feel like I'm in 8mile or something and I'm one insult away from a rap battle (*dramatization*)

Twould be awesome no doubt

Not doing that again...

Just got back from Gatti's. Decided to try it for the first time on a whim. I woulda cooked, but the beef was still frozen.
Upon entering, it all seems fine. til we hit the buffet. Super Crappy.
Worst 8 dollars we have ever spent on pizza.
The pizza slices were as long and wide as my pinky finger..
They didn't taste very good either. Sigh.

Not doing that again....

Now you all should know that I am a Cici's fan. (HOLLA)
Ryan is not. But i don't give a shit.
Cici's is where we're going next time.
That's whats up. : )

Video of the Day

The Shining

Last night we saw "The Shining" with Jack Nicholson. Now, i know, i know..it's a little late. This is one of those classic  movies that we should have definitely seen before we hit 20, but in Ryan's defense, he doesn't like scary movies, And in my defense, I saw clips of it here and there but it never caught my attention.

Ok enough of that.
The movie was really good.
We were a little confused towards the end, but IMDB says the ending is supposed to be ambiguous. So be it.
There were definitely some moments where I could not sit still because i was freaked out, and even Ryan was a little antsy. (Totally cute, I put my arm around him to calm him) ;P

Speaking of cute, the little boy in the movie was adorable. And really well spoken/good actor for his age.

No camera around...

So i've been on a cooking spree lately. Trying to use up all the stuff Ryan has so that  nothing will have to be thrown away or go bad.
In two days we've made
1. Mini Apple Pies with the one apple that's been sitting in his fridge...
2. Boneless Chicken Wings with 3 types of sauces (Garlic Parmesan- my favorite, Buffalo, and Sweet and Sour) http://blogchef.net/how-to-make-boneless-chicken-wings/*Caution: This link will cause you to have a foodgasm and drool over your keyboard
3. Homemade Pan Rolls http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Homemade-Pan-Rolls/Detail.aspx
4.  Garlic Breadsticks (my own recipe) Another attempt to use up the flour
5. Slow Cooked Steak with onions and mushrooms, with Mashed Potatoes (from the bag, no less)
6. Pancakes - to use up the pancake mix, but of course I "doctored it up" I'm not a fan of box mix pancakes.

While I am indeed making a mess of his kitchen, Ryan lovingly cleans up after me :)
And Sadly there was no camera around to document our eating adventures.... :/
Maybe next time...

The headphones

After searching thru the bowels of craigslist past the mail order brides and *medication that increases bloodflow*, I found a quite spectacular pair of headphones. As shown here:

The fine, non-rapist, young gentleman here came with only a limited number of headphones sadly

Indeed, upon first listen, it was like that scene in avatar where the blue sam worthington does that hair tentacle bonding thing with that flying lizard. Upon which they both experienced the wonders of flight, and bonded as one. Though I've yet to have weird blue people sex with Zoe Saldana in the mist of a glowing forest (yet). Of course nothing a prog rock album couldn't fix
Probably This one

Anyhoo, just figured it was worth an update

Anniversary Time Once More

31 months. Me and Ale commonly say that its still not enough time together. Even after all these months. I'm glad to report that it still isn't enough time together.

As for the rest of the week, its been pretty boring. We're in that final week before finals, so Ale has been busy, and since I had to regrettably drop a class, I've been quite bored under my light workload. (the dropped class was because I decided to switch back to my psyc major in the middle of my semester, making all the classes I was taking useless sadly) Anyways, I've just been chilling looking for new headphones since my lovely Koss Portapro's keep on dying and I'm tired of sending them off again and again (even with that lifetime warrenty). We will find my new audio soulmates soon enough I suspect with a little help of craigslist personal sections (strictly platonic I assure you).

As for the rest of the semester it should be fine. I have nothing to do next week til friday, which annoys me some what, as Ale will be back in Houston by then as I get two days off for 'studying' and she doesn't. As I said, its never enough time with the two of us.

Anyways, ta ta, I will update with headphone obviously (and see how well the beastie boys album is with them, but its hard to make their album sound bad)

Alessandra Loves Batter

Sometimes I like them better than the actual cooked version
Pancake batter, biscuit dough, cake batter, cookie dough, banana bread batter....

Oh man. Banana bread makes some good looking (and good tasting) batter. -i wish i took a picture but i forgot. (You would think I would get sick with all that raw egg I ingest, but nope. I think my body likes it too ;P)
Hey Mrs. H, I'm stealing your recipe. Thanks.

So today, Ryan and I will do nothing. Nothing at all. It feels good to do ~nothing~. I mean, its easier to plan your days when there's nothing.

me: "Hey babe let's do nothing today"
him: "Sounds good. I like that idea"
me: "Cool" : D
"I don't like photos but I don't NOT like photos"

Today's Plans
Sleep in until 1:30pm- Check
Watch Ryan Make Banana Bread- Check
Eat Banana Bread, and other foodstuffs- In Progress Check
Surf the internet for stupid videos- In Progress
Sleep

Conclusion of Today:

Best Banana Bread I've ever had. It was more like banana cake though.

Either way, I love it! Making this foreverrr.
And Ryan made it all by himself

Recap of week:
Monday went to UT with Ryan for the day since I had no school.
Tuesday Classes- FOUND OUT I GOT ACCEPTED TO UT OMGGG
Wednesday Classes
Thursday- Classes. Then had dinner and saw a movie at his apt. A Beautiful Mind. Ryan thought Russell Crowe was Mel Gibson and kept calling him a "dick" throughout the movie. -__- Sigh.
Friday- Classes. Gym. then  I cleaned my room, and i managed to persuade Ryan to clean his own apartment before i got there (Otherwise his ass woulda waited til i was there, and then guess who ends up cleaning right along with him? Yes, Me. Hell no), and then we went to Kerbey Lane where halfway through our meals we decided to switch plates. lol. It was kinda cute. Then we watched another movie together. The Bucket List. During which i zoned out and closed my eyes. Sorry, but it had boring and long parts.

Okie Doke

update:
7:00pm.
Doing "nothing" is starting to get boring :/
Headacheee. lol.-ale

HAPPY

Found out yesterday morning that i was accepted into the business school at UT.
I cried about 3 times.
My face went all tingly.
I lost my breath. Became nauseous.
I think thats what you call being in complete and utter shock.
it is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had given up and was making plans for going back home.
Ryan had given up to.
We spent about a month being mopey at the thought of being separated for the  next 2-3 years.
But alas, we're not meant to be apart : )

And i am extremely excited to go to UT, but a part of me feels conflicted.
Going back home would've really helped my parents out, financially, and with my little brother. We had a really good plan in case i got rejected. Which i was 99% sure would happen.

Anyway.
It still hasn't really hit me.
800 transfer students apply to Mccombs. 100 make it. Thats what the counselor told me at UT. I'm one of those 100. Still can't believe it.

Amen <3

Oh you're getting pictures today

YOU BET.
just wait. ;P
I have to finish cooking the brisket and get it picture perfect. :)

Man, I can't wait to have my own food blog/family cook book
I plan on convincing my mom to collaborate with me on it---OH YEAH

Update:  ...AND THE BRISKET is now picture perfect.
Found the recipe in my parent's magazine Cooking Light

Tomatoes are added at the last hour of cooking...

we omitted the olives : P

Only took 3 and a half hours!! *sarcasm*   (although the recipe said 4, but i didn't care enough)

And also, ryan cleaned the bathroom! yay
because it sucks showering with the water up to your ankles and having black mold in the tub
Its all good now..
It won't last though
This is easily the 4th time (we've/he's) cleaned it.

That's my man! My domestic dude  ;P  Love you baby <3

This marks the date my life was forever tarnished

Tarnished I say. I cannot say what, other than that me and my splendid lady friend will understand this post. Needless to say, the thing I was trying to avoid all my life happened, it is not traumatic in the typical sense. But alas, my life will always be 'different' now. I can never go back to the way things once were.

I just realized this could relate to me having a mini argument with my dad about mormonism (it isn't, though the metaphor is surprisingly apt)

Well, have fun all of you

Going crazy

I'm still waiting to hear from UT. It is driving me so fucking crazy. I mean, if they're going to reject me, can they just do it already. I'm getting really impatient and sad. I still have to do all that financial aid, and insurance, and housing stuff oh yeah and register for classes! Come on. I feel like everyone has heard back but me. : (
This image accurately sums up what I've been up to lately. Refresh. Refresh. Refresh...etc

On another note, last night Ryan and I saw Ponyo. We've been wanting to see it for a while. His mom got a netflix account so we just "borrowed" it from her.

Ok, so it was kind of weird. At first we were confused. But then it made sense, except for the fact that it was fucking weird. And why was the dude wearing makeup? And how did he become half human, or whatever? There was much to be desired from the movie. It was cute, but it left a lot of details out. And how in the world is Ponyo a gold fish! Not like any i've seen, i'll tell ya that.
Anyway, it wasn't as good as we expected. Maybe we're too old to appreciate it though? Who knows.

Going back home again this weekend!
There seems to be a triple date planned ;P
(edit from ale: didn't happen. :/ )(and then Hani came over to my house. Another story)
Maybe. The problem is that Ryan's boyfriend tends to be sketchy. Yes i said it. Sketchy.
I told Ryan that his little friend and I are gonna need to have a talk...
lol
